At Sauleda we are faithful to our commitment to constantly innovate in order to fulfil our main mission: “Protecting people and the environment”. We carry out environmental protection actions in all our fabric production plants: smoke treatment, renewable energy generation, packaging reuse, water purification, among others.
In a world where concern for sustainability and ecology is only growing, Sauleda carries out numerous actions to guarantee its commitments, both human and environmental. The company has 5 centres, all of them equipped and coordinated under environmentally friendly measures, where it manufactures and produces its fabrics.
BERGA

One of the plants, located in Berga, has a Regenerative Thermal Oxidation Systemfor fume treatment. With this type of machinery, introduced in the factory several years ago, the concentration of VOCs is reduced to values of 10mg C/ Nm3, much lower than the 20mg C/ Nm3 allowed by current regulations. The result is a clean, odorless and colorless smoke, respectful of the environment.
Moreover, in this same factory, the energy needed to heat the thermal oil circuit used in the manufacture of technical fabrics is obtained thanks to a biomass boiler, which uses only fuel the remains of wood from all over the Berguedà area. Thanks to this, Sauleda avoids the use of fossil fuels and petroleum derivatives and contributes to the sustainable management of the region’s forests.
As in any manufacturing process, there are remains of chemical products whose collection, separation and management is the responsibility of the company, always prioritising reuse. We also found that 30% of the PVC plastisol left over from production sorted and reused in subsequent fabrications. The remaining 70% is treated as waste, trying to maximise its reuse. 45% of the chemical residues are handed over to a certified manager for recovery and reuse recovery and reuse. While the remaining 25% goes through a distillation process. In this way, Sauleda manages to reduce the purchase of solvent and the amount of waste that has to be managed for destruction.
In this same plant, in Berga, the textile waste generated in the production of fabrics is also managed for reuse. In the weaving section, the leftover edges are collected and delivered to a company in charge of regenerate them in a new textile fibre. The cardboard cones, once the yarn is worn out, are saved and reused. As if that were not enough, we also note that in the PVC production line, the leftover edges containing a percentage of fabric and PVC are collected and delivered to an external company that will recover both.
